چکیده

We study the probability of ruin before time t for the family of tempered stable Lévy insurance risk processes, which includes the spectrally positive inverse Gaussian processes. Numerical approximations of the ruin time distribution are derived via the Laplace transform of the asymptotic ruin time distribution, for which we have an explicit expression. These are benchmarked against simulations based on importance sampling using stable processes. Theoretical consequences of the asymptotic formulae indicate that some care is needed in the choice of parameters to avoid exponential growth (in time) of the ruin probabilities in thesemodels. This, in particular, applies to the inverse Gaussian processwhen the safety loading is less than one. © 2013 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Simulating Ruin Probabilities in Insurance Risk Processes with Subexponential Claims

We describe a fast simulation framework for simulating small ruin probabilities in insurance risk processes with subexponential claims. Naive simulation is inefficient since the event of interest is rare, and special simulation techniques like importance sampling need to be used. An importance sampling change of measure known as sub-exponential twisting has been found useful for some rare event...

Finite- and Infinite-time Ruin Probabilities in the Presence of Stochastic Returns on Investments

This paper investigates the finiteand infinite-time ruin probabilities in a discrete-time stochastic economic environment. Under the assumption that the insurance risk – the total net loss within one time period – is extended-regularly-varying tailed or rapidly-varying tailed, various precise estimates for the ruin probabilities are derived. In particular, some estimates obtained are uniform wi...

Ruin Probabilities in a Dependent Discrete-Time Risk Model With Gamma-Like Tailed Insurance Risks

This paper considered a dependent discrete-time risk model, in which the insurance risks are represented by a sequence of independent and identically distributed real-valued random variables with a common Gamma-like tailed distribution; the financial risks are denoted by another sequence of independent and identically distributed positive random variables with a finite upper endpoint, but a gen...

Ruin Analysis of a Discrete-Time Dependent Sparre Andersen Model with External Financial Activities and Randomized Dividends

We consider a discrete-time dependent Sparre Andersen risk model which incorporates multiple threshold levels characterizing an insurer’s minimal capital requirement, dividend paying situations, and external financial activities. We focus on the development of a recursive computational procedure to calculate the finite-time ruin probabilities and expected total discounted dividends paid prior t...

Ruin Probabilities of a Discrete-time Multi-risk Model

In this work, we investigate a multi-risk model describing insurance business with two or more independent series of claim amounts. Each series of claim amounts consists of independent nonnegative random variables. Claims of each series occur periodically with some fixed inter-arrival time. Claim amounts occur until they can be compensated by a common premium rate and the initial insurer’s surp...
